Established in 1957, Empangeni High School is the largest and best known multi-cultural high school in Zululand that accommodates diverse learners.
About Our School
Empangeni High School is situated south of the Main Road (the major road between Empangeni and Richards Bay). The school is within walking distance from the centre of town. The new building was completed in 1975 and is adjacent to the old building. The school now contains well-equipped Life Science and Physical Science laboratories; a modern Mechanical workshop; Consumer Study centres; Computer and IT centres; a gym; a fully equipped Engineering Graphic Design centre as well as a Music centre.
The Music Centre is really one of its kind! It is the largest Music Centre in KZN where Music as an examinable subject is offered, ranging from wind instruments to piano and singing.

Sport Curriculum
Sports offered include Rugby, Cricket, Hockey, Netball, Athletics, Swimming, Tennis, Soccer, Volleyball, E-sport (only public school in the King Cetshwayo District) and much more!
Academic Curriculum
Empangeni High School’s dedicated educators ensure that the 1327 learners are led through a curriculum of over 25 subjects to reach their full academic potential.
Culture Curriculum
Cultural activities offered include Drama, Chess, Land Service, Teenagers Against Drug Abuse (TADA), First Aid, Choir, Band, Music, Cheerleading, Music Theatre and much more!
